Ferdinand's began in 2012 with an all leather version of a reusable paper bag, that was made by Dane Alderfer on an old tailor's machine in his basement. Ferdinand's has continued to evolve organically ever since. All items are designed, hand-cut and made start-to-finish using domestically sourced vegetable tanned leather, canvas, and other sustainable or salvaged materials.
We believe leather is meant to be used as much as it is appreciated. We value the markings that develop with time, and encourage our customers to embrace what may come with regular use. We use our pieces daily, rain or shine, and we believe the signs of wear that come with use makes the pieces more beautiful.

Our all vegetable tanned leather version of an paper SOS bag (self-opening sack) is all natural, durable, as well as domestically and sustainably sourced (as a natural bi-product of the meat industry). History proves this design is timeless and our version is built for heavy duty and long term use.
Inside, there is a removable wood base for additional structure. We've added a folded bottom detail like paper bags with a minimally stitched handle detail. Vegetable tan leather comes light but will darken with age and use (see last photo of example of bag used after 3 years). One standard size is made to the dimensions of a paper bag.
Now taking pre-orders. Will be completed and shipped by December 15, 2017. Limited to 3.
